Well, I was so excited to finally get my own i910 Omnia the other day. I setup the wifi on my home network, played around with most of the settings, totaly fell in love with the phone.
And then… I decided to try a firmware upgrade. BAD decision. If you’re on Verizon, then maybe you could get away with it – lots of people have had sucess with some of the updated firmware’s out there. BUT – if you’re on anything else then DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! The only i910 firmware upgrades available that I can find anywhere on the net are specifically for Verizon. I’m on SaskTel mobility in Canada, but of course I didn’t clue in until after the firmware started flashing. The phone finished the upgrade no problem but is now a Verizon phone – unusable in Canada.
The worst part? Nobody has SaskTel firmware, not even SaskTel. I have to send my Omnia away for 6-8 weeks – wahhhhh!!! I only had it 1 day, just long enough to fall in love with it. It’s going to be a long and sad 2 months waiting for my phone back.
***** UPDATE *******
Yay – the folks at the local SaskTel store were kind enough to give me a new Omnia so I don’t have to wait. Totally made my week!
